Dress Code

For both events, you can wear American cocktail attire, but you are encouraged to wear Bengali clothing! It is considered an honor when visitors wear traditional attire.

Avoid wearing all white or a white top (white bottoms are fine), which is a color of mourning and death, or red with white, which is reserved for the bride. Otherwise, have fun with it!

If you are coming a few days early, we strongly recommend buying clothing there - it will be much cheaper!

Here are examples of appropriate clothing for each event:

Cocktail Party:

From the first picture, aside from the tuxedo, all other attires are fair game. As for the second picture, every attire is acceptable.

Wedding Ceremony + Reception:

The attires above can be worn on the wedding day, too; however, we encourage going for a more traditional look on the wedding day (as seen below) as opposed to Western wear.

Some stores we recommend buying these from online, ahead of time:

Suggestion for women to search for: sarees, blouses with palazzo pants, lehenga

Suggestion for men to search for: kurta/short kurta, Bengali pyjama, sherwani, aligari pants for men
